Causeway Music

We are Sabine & Dick Glasgow & we play a wide variety of

Traditional Musical Instruments.

The instruments we play are very suitable for playing music for Weddings, for both the formal Wedding Ceremony itself,

as well as the more informal pre dinner Drinks Reception.

Fiddle, Mandolin, Tenor Guitar, English Concertina, Nyckelharpa & Hammered Dulcimer.

Dick has been playing Traditional Irish & Scottish Music on a wide variety of instruments now for forty years.

His first instrument is the Fiddle, but he also plays the Mandolin, Tenor Guitar, Anglo & English Concertinas, the Nyckelharpa & the Hammered Dulcimer.

These instruments all compliment the sound of the Harp beautifully for both the traditional dance music as well as the ancient music of these islands.

The Nyckelharpa gives a wonderful olde world sound to the music, with its 12 ringing sympathetic strings, while the Hammered Dulcimer helps to recreate the sound of the ancient metal strung Irish Harp. However, the Hammered Dulcimer has long been associated in Ireland, with the Glens of Antrim & Dick is helping to keep that ancient tradition alive today.

Sabine Glasgow

Dick Glasgow

Clarsach, Knee Harp, Gothic Harp, Flutes & Fife

Sabine has been playing Harps for over thirty years now and as well as the typical floor standing Clarsach, she also plays the Celtic Knee Harp as well as the more unusual little Gothic Harp.

She also plays a variety of Flutes & the Fife.

The Harp is the instrument we find is most often asked for, to provide a traditional flavour, to the music at the Wedding Ceremony.
Of course, there are many different types of Harp, so Sabine has one to suit most occasions.

The Clarsach, the traditional Harp of Ireland and Scotland, is the one most often asked for. However, the Knee Harp is most suitable for use in the Traditional Pub Session, while her Gothic Harp has a lovely olde Worlde sound which adds a wonderful charm to the music and is ideal for period events.
